“What do we get with the solar project? We get clean local energy at a discounted rate. We get protection of our groundwater, our ponds and our watershed, a 98% reduction in the inputs of nitrogen and phosphorus into Coonamessett Pond – the largest freshwater body in Falmouth – and greater protection for the massive Great Pond watershed. We get increased tree coverage and habitat.
With this project, we see a net increase of 6 acres of trees with native pollinator-friendly grasses and wildflowers around and under the solar panels. We get conversion of a golf course to conservation land. Fifty-five acres will be donated to the town immediately for conservation land, with another 82 acres at the end of the useful life of the solar project.“

Valuable Source of Revenue
PureSky Energy’s plan to preserve the surrounding landscape, rehabilitate some areas with the installation of local greenery, and improve accessibility for walkers and children will enhance the use of this open space while providing the Town of Falmouth a valuable source of revenue. More

Fierce Support
What affects one, affects all, and so it is with fierce urgency that I support including the proposed zoning bylaw amendment and request to include the listed parcels in the Town of Falmouth’s solar overlay district.

Wonderful Opportunity to Preserve the Land
“I am writing in support of the new solar array possibility. In addition to the benefit of green energy, it is also a wonderful opportunity to preserve the land.”
— Sarah Joslin, local community member
Every month when I get my bill, I see the money I save
This is a project that I think will benefit all the citizens of Falmouth. … It’s nice to look out and see the fairway of the green, but this is a green energy project. And I have to say, solar farms are built for homeowners. I can tell you this because I belong to two of them. One here and one in Maine. … Every month when I get my bill, I see the money I save.”
— Joseph Netto, Falmouth Town Meeting Member, Precinct 2
Maintaining the Peaceful Nature of the Area
We the trustees of the association (we cannot speak for each individual homeowner) support the proposed solar farm on this property, based on their proposal to maintain a significant vegetated visual buffer from the pond and avoid use of any chemicals on the property that could damage the environment or the pond. We use the pond extensively for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and other recreational purposes and want to have the peaceful nature of the area and safe water quality of the pond maintained.

A Perfect Resolution
I have had a home on the Coonamessett Pond for 35 years. I get up each morning and enjoy the beautiful and serene view of this wonderful resource. This is a resource enjoyed not only by our neighborhood but by many residents of Falmouth…Leaving the land open by turning it into an environment protecting solar array is a perfect resolution.
— Bernard Aserkoff, Close Neighbor
Optimal Use of this Land
What this project will do is remove the existing threat to Coonamessett Pond. Golf courses, what they do is green lawns, fertilizer, use up water … The optimal use of this land is clearly this project.
— Jed Goldstone, Falmouth Town Meeting Member, Precinct 2 and Member, Falmouth Board of Health
Valuable Project
I support this project because I think the town should be a partner. I think this is a valuable project. I think it’s an optimal use, environmentally.
— Peter Clark, Falmouth Town Meeting Member, Precinct 1
